Unfortunately I've been having problems with my Realtek HD Audio (includes THX TruStudio Pro and Dynaudio Premium Sound Technology) with my Windows 8 x64 MSI GT70 whenever I open up a game file and start playing for 1-2 minutes (WoW, Diablo III, SCII). I've tried all the different settings in the Audio Manager but it didn't help. Dynaudio support. Find firmware manuals, manuals and step by step instructions here. So I recently purchased an MSI GT72 and I love it other than it seems that no matter what sound option I choose, I have this slight reverb/echo underlying all of my audio. Ive tried the built in speakers, headphones, and bluetooth audio and they all have it. The windows forums say to go into the sound manager, properties of the default device and then enhancement tab to turn it off BUT I do not have the enhancements tab!
Is my driver malfunctioning? I've uninstalled and reinstalled it but nothing seems to fix it.
Any ideas would be appreciated! Edit: Hey all I found the issue. MSI has their own software installed called Nahimic for MSI which has presets, all set to about 60% reverb. Very agitating for an audio engineer!! Haha Thanks fo all our help!
Well, I'll try to help. I spent hours googling and looking through my computer, when finally I found this page: Ultimately, it didn't help me, but it got me to look in the right places to solve the problem. So if my recipe doesn't work, I recommend you have a look at the post and at the comment section;) So, first of all, my Windows is not in English, and it's hard to find translations / I can't be bothered. If you can't understand the steps I'm describing, just ask me or make a more or less educated guess. So what I did was I opened up 'Manage sound devices' or something like that.

You can use the Windows search bar or go through Control panel Hardware and sound Sound. A small window should open up, called Sound. On my computer there are two devices showing: Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio, from now on referred to as RHDA) and Realtek Digital Output. Open up Speakers Properties, and another window should appear, called Properties for speakers. Under the general tab, there's a box called 'Controller information' or some such - mine shows RHDA.
Click properties, and another window should pop up, called Properties for RHDA. This window has a driver tab, and you'd think the solution would be there, and you could probably try it yourself. But in my case, the option to 'update driver' was greyed out, and there was nothing to be done. So instead I went back to the general tab and opened 'Change settings'. Now yet another window opens, also called 'Properties for RHDA'.
This window too has a driver tab, but the difference, at least in my case, is that the 'update driver' button is not greyed out. Click the button and update the driver. This should solve your problem, at least it did mine.
I hope this was helpful and I'd like to hear back from you whether the problem was solved or not:). Hey there friend I appreciate the help! I did find out what the problem was. MSI preinstalls software called Nahimic which creates their own presets for surround sound. Now normally this is fine for most users BUT I am a sound engineer and having the continual reverb made my mixes literally impossible to work with. All you have to do is open the program, go into their sound tab and turn off the reverb.
I would have never thought to have done that only because I'm unfamiliar with MSI's software (and Windows 10 is still weird as hell). Thanks again! To be honest I was replying to pictone's post, since you seemed to be dead. But it's nice to hear from you though:) I also have an MSI (GE72), and I also have the Nahimic software. Everything was working well before the Windows 10 upgrade, including Nahimic. But afterwards all the buttons were greyed out, so I couldn't adjust the reverb or do anything else (and I hadn't added the reverb in the first place.) I assumed this was your problem too, but it seems you had an easy fix once you discovered the Nahimic software. I read on the MSI forums that several people have had problems with Nahimic after Windows 10, however most of them solved it with the Windows 10 drivers upgrade from MSI.
But my model isn't supported yet, so I assume you're one of the lucky ones:).
