Driver Door Module Volvo S80

May 14, 2014 - If you've ever wondered what's inside your drivers door module, wonder no more. Mine failed, drivers door wouldn't lock, couldn't fold or adjust the mirror, window wouldn't open or close. Connected VIDA/DICE to the car, tried activating the mirror and window, nothing. Read the fault codes DDM internal. Replacing the driver door module (DDM) and passenger door module (PDM) Preparations Caution!€New software can only be ordered after the control module has been installed in the car. I have a 2006 S40 and over the last two weeks have developed two problems. The external temp sensor shows inaccurate readings. Overnight start has it at - or -40 F.

Readings fluctuate off and on and after a few stops/starts it becomes OK. The remote door locks on and the entire control panel on the driver door go dead at random. The window controls and locks on the other doors continue to work. It's a totally random failure of the driver side control panel. I have been to the dealer twice. They did the greasing solution and whatever was campaign 167A, B & C. Some kind of sotware upgrade??

I see where other people in the forum have had similar issues, did anybody actually get the issue resolved? If so, please post what fixed the issue. Thanks Chandra.

Hi, again i don't know if you have got this fixed but i have got my car booked in on Monday morning for the work to be completed. I had the same issues as you.45 external temp, the central locking is intermittent and wont work sometimes, driver side electrics dead and i intermittently get the engine warning light (orange) on for long periods of time without any loss of power etc. ( i did check with the garage before driving on this) The problem. The wiring in the A pillars has chaffed and worn away causing all manor of things to go wrong.

They are gonna replace all the wiring looms in the a frames and apparently it will fix everything. About 4/5 hours work under warranty. Im pretty confident this is the right fix as i didnt mention all the symptoms when i took it in as i had forgotten/got used to some of them lol. But when he came back with the solution he mentioned all of my symptoms. Fingers crossed and hope this helps anyone else with similar issues. What is going on with this driver side power issue?

Volvo's 'fix' isnt working. I took my car in for the greasing of the connectors, and after that its gotten worse. I'm using my service key to get in just so i can slam the door repetedly until it starts working again.

And it seems that every S40 customer is bound to face this thing, when i took my car in for the fix, there was another customer there complaining about how her driver side controls kept failing and she mentioned she'd been there 4 times already, what are the chances of that? Sounds like my adventure is just starting. The fact that they are now willing to change wires and modules is quite uplifting, i'm contacting my volvo service center tommorrow to see what they say. I hope everyone here gets this issue fixed very soon! I called my Volvo dealer and they told me how to 'fix' my electrical problem. These are the idiots words: 'Oh sounds like a communications problem. To fix it, open your door with the key only, DON'T USE the remote, do this a couple times and it will fix.'

Well what he forgot is that every time you do that the alarm will go off and you'll have to use the remote to shut it off! By the way, it doesn't fix anything, problem still going. I did some digging online and found the official bulletin sent out to dealers explaining what the problem is (Corrosion!) and how to fix it, looks simple enough. I just thought I'd pass it on to anyone else that might like it. Hey Gwilly, glad to hear they finally fixed your problems!

I too can report that my door problem is over. I was able to fix it myself, by following the bulletin instructions.

Opened up the connector as indicated in the bulliten, 1) heavily sprayed the female and male part of the connectors with some CRC QD Electronic cleaner spray. 2) connected and disconnected the connector repeatedly to remove any corrosion build up 3) some more CRC spray 4) applied a nice amount of di-electric grease, making sure it was in every little hole, and a little extra on the tip of the connector so when it connected everything had some on it. Haven't had a problem since! Hi i have got same problem which is drivers door and rear passanger door on same side are locked while other side work normaly. My question is does anyone knows how much does it cost to repair at volvo garage?

And what could happen if i will leave it and don`t repair it?? I don`t have any other sympthons jet. Ps went to volvo service 2 days ago and they said that they have to check it on the computer which cost £85 pounds. Thanks for your VERY helpful post, I'll let you know how it sorts out!!! Megan (IMG:) Have similar problem. Have you gotten the car back from the repair? I have a similar, with an extra degree of difficulty. The passenger door is locked and it is virtually impossible to unlock it.

I can lock/unlock all doors except the passenger. I have also been unable to open the door by pulling on the handle (which pops the pin) but the door remains locked.

And there is no way to take the panel off with the door closed. And yes, I have tried pulling twice on the inside handle, pulling it while standing on my head, tapping the door, banging on the door, with and without pleasantries for volvo etc etc. I manage to pull the panel half the way out with the door shut.but I will somehow have to remove it completely, then remove the metal plate, then the lock.this is a job and a half but the dealler here in the France had given me an estimate for $600 to replace the module. (btw I found the module + window motor for $40 on ebay ). And we all know this is not the problem, but hey, he can shutgun it at my own expense.
